When it comes to connecting the steering wheel to other electrical devices, such as the airbag safety system, radio volume and station selectors, cruise controls, and horn, a clock spring is used. However, if the wires in the clock spring wear down and break, it can lead to a short or open circuit, causing issues such as the failure of the horn, radio controls, cruise controls, and the activation of the airbag warning light.

Given that the clock spring is responsible for two safety devices- the airbag safety system and the horn- it’s highly recommended to replace a faulty clock spring with a new unit as soon as possible.
